For pleasant weather and greenery, March to June is the best time to visit Manali. For snow, December to February is magical (but cold and some passes shut). October–November is crisp and clear with thin crowds; the monsoon (Jul–Sep) brings landslide risk on the highways.

Safety & scams

Manali is safe, but the hazards are mountain-specific: winding roads, sudden weather, mild altitude at the Atal Tunnel/Rohtang, and fast-moving river currents. Avoid the Beas riverbed edges.

Paragliding/activity overcharging — fix price and duration upfront
Taxi unions with fixed high rates — confirm before boarding
Stay clear of the river edge — currents are deceptively strong
